News Story - Cool blog: James Clark Ross in the Southern Ocean

Date: 11 Feb 2008

The onboard activities of the BAS ship RRS James Clark Ross, currently on a science cruise in the Southern Ocean, are documented in a blog by Portuguese scientist, Jose Xavier. The blog is bilingual (Portuguese and English) and has been created within one of the most exciting educational programs within the International Polar Year, the LATITUDE60!.

The cruise brings together 26 scientists from all over the world, including British, Americans, Portuguese, Germans, Slovenians and Danish, who are collecting data for various national and international research programs. These scientists are conducting research on the ice-edge, open ocean and on the Antarctic convergence, investigating the different habitats of everything from algae to whales.

The daily activities onboard the James Clark Ross can be followed at www.cientistapolarjxavier.blogspot.com.
