The British Council in Brazil is bringing Professor Lloyd Peck of the British Antarctic Survey, with a set of 4 interactive lectures on the theme To the end of the Earth. Professor Peck will present these multi-media events for young people aged 12 and upwards, focussing on what the Antarctic is like as an environment for living beings, what effect climate change is having on this environment, and what this in turn means for the rest of the planet. Alongside the lectures in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, we plan:

- the televising of the lectures on Brazilian national TV, expanding the live audience by millions;
- a series of workshops for teachers, looking at ways of engaging young people in classrooms in the issues raised;
- a set of downloadable materials for schools throughout Brazil, focussing on climate issues and ways of tackling them at grass-roots level
- interactive webcasts;
