Competitors must be Canadian citizens or residents of Canada. Submissions must be original material published during the 2008 calendar year in English or French. The article must refer to or include reference to research conducted in Canada as part of International Polar Year (IPY) and should raise awareness and generate interest in Canada's contribution to Arctic research. Submissions must be a minimum of 1,500 words in length and must have appeared in a Canadian publication aimed at the general public. Awards for one English and one French entry will be presented at the CSWAs 38th annual conference in Sudbury, Ontario May 23, 2009. Each winner will be awarded a cash prize of $2,500.
ALL WINNING ENTRIES MUST PASS A TECHNICAL REVIEW FOR SCIENCTIFIC ACCURACY.
