We are traveling along the ice divide towards the Kohnen station and are now at 75 South and 5o East. We are working in accordance with a daily routine and we are moving approximately 70 km per day. On Thursday we made an unexpected exploration of a subglacial lake close to the ice divide.
Lakes have not been found before in this part of Antarctica, but it is known from the EPICA drillings that the basal melting part of the ice sheet is more extensive than previously thought. The nearest plan is to reach the Kohnen station on Saturday night or Sunday mid day.
