In a recent issue, the magazine National Geographic provided extensive coverage of climate change and political issues in the Arctic. They also provided a fine new Arctic map. In the Spanish version of that issue the National Geographic devoted several pages to the Spanish IPY programmes. We thank National Geographic for their regular excellent coverage of polar and cryospheric regions, and we thank Jeronimo Lopez-Martinez for alerting us to this very nice IPY story.
