Abstract submission is February 15th. Every session is open to submissions about both scientific research and education/outreach activities relevant to the science theme.
Please notify Early Career Researchers:
- IASC is offering travel grants for Early Career arctic researchers. Deadline is January 15th. Details on conference webpage.
- There will be a one day workshop for Early Career Researchers on July 7th. Register at http://www.polarnetwork.org/ before February 29th, 2008.
Connect with an international network of early career researchers. The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and the UK Polar Network (UKPN) are organizing a 1-day professional-development workshop for July 7, 2008, the day before the SCAR/IASC Open Science Conference. We have great speakers and mentors on several topics: effective communication skills in proposals and presentations, improving your teaching skills, how to find your perfect polar job, international and interdisciplinary collaborations, and a few others. To apply for a place at the workshop visit us online and submit a short biography/ CV before February 29th 2008. Fifty (50) young researchers from 14 countries met from the 29 November to 2 December 2007 in the Otto Schmidt Laboratory for Polar and Marine Sciences at the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, St. Petersburg, to learn the latest methods used in permafrost research and engineering and to discuss future plans to address climate change issues in permafrost areas. This workshop was an official International Polar Year (IPY) event organized jointly by the Otto-Schmidt Laboratory for Polar and Marine Sciences in St. Petersburg, the Permafrost Young Researchers Network (PYRN) and APECS.
