The Arctic Energy Summit is issuing a Call for Papers for its Technology Conference to be held in Anchorage, Alaska October 15-18, 2007.
The Summit, an approved International Polar Year Program, is a US-led initative of the eight-nation Arctic Council amd is comprised of three components:
* The technology conference and industry exposition which will bring together 600-1,000 researchers, academics, government leaders, students, industry, and residents of the Arctic;
* The creation and deployment of an international Arctic energy action team whose recommendations will be reported at the 2008 Arctic Council Ministerial meeting in Norway;
* An education and outreach component which will include a bilingual (Russian and English) summit website and, upon securing adequate levels of funding, the creation of educational materials, fostering student research through grants and contests and the development of an interactive Internet Arctic energy atlas.
We envision the paper topics to include Arctic energy disciplines such as fossil fuel, carbon sequestration, oil recovery, natural gas, biomass, geothermal, solar, photovoltaic, hydrogen, fuel cells, water, wind and nuclear. Papers on related topics will also be considered: energy efficiency, environmental controls, climate change, environmental management, international law and energy, architecture and energy, conservation and efficiency, energy modeling, energy sustainability, rural electrification, risk assessment, and financing Arctic energy projects.
PDF versions of the Call for Papers, a brochure describing the Arctic Energy Summit Program, and a brochure describing Sponsorship opportunities are also available. We would appreciate you sharing this information with your colleagues. Papers should be submitted to the Arctic Energy Summit website as outlined in the call document.
